I will be 30 in just over a month and I’m not really that anxious about it. It’s kind of crazy, I remember my mom turning 30- there was a big party, I’m sure we were shipped off to one of the neighbors or something but I remember bits and pieces of it. I would have been 9, so obviously I was old enough to remember it.

My mom had 3 kids when she turned 30. I think back then, being married, having three kids, 30 probably seemed really old. I still feel like I have all this time to get old. We have no kids, we rent, we do what we want, when we want. I kind of have no obligations or responsibilities past work and my marriage.

We are looking into buying a house, looking being the operative word. Student loans on one side and never ending credit card debt on the other seem to make this a pipe dream. On the flip side we are kind of wary of being responsible for our own maintenance so we are in no big hurry. Replacing a furnace or paying a plumber aren’t high on our list of priorities right now.

Bringing it back, I don’t feel like I am in the same place as my mom when she turned 30, strapped with 3 kids a mortgage in the suburbs and a seasonally absentee husband. Not the same boat at all. It’s just another birthday. One I get to celebrate at a Bruce Springsteen concert!

I am looking forward to the oldies- Born to Run, Badlands, Thunder Road and this gem:

I have heard it is amazing live and he doesn’t play it everywhere. Honey and I saw him a few years ago and he was fantastic, we were stuck up in a box and totally displaced from the energy of the crowd which sucked, but it was an amazing show nonetheless.

I can’t wait!

    Happy early birthday!
I loved Juno too. Loved, loved, loved it! Especially when she tells Bleecker that he's the coolest kid in the school — without even trying! And he says, "Actually…I try really hard."
