Tonight I get my sushi fix. Finally.
I know some people will say Fuji-Ya isn’t the best place in the cities to go, but it’s still pretty fantastic. I really couldn’t find anything to complain about the last time we were there, the waitress was so helpful, the sushi tasted fresh and we had a great time. I can’t wait for tonight.
The thing about sushi is I can’t stand the preboxed stuff at the grocery store; it really freaks me out. I like to go, sit down, order ala carte and get exactly what I want. No California Rolls. No avocado. I like that if I want something else or want to try something new it’s not a big deal- just order it. I can’t do this all the time so it’s a treat when we do go. That said, every time we go out for the next month sushi will be our first thought. My husband on the other hand would buy sushi from a guy on the corner if he could. He’ll eat anything packaged with ginger and wasabi.
After tonight I need to nail down a place for my birthday. Last year it was the Sample Room. Fantastic, and we got to witness what could have been the world’s worst first date. Ever. The tables were so close I almost leaned over to the guy and said “get out now, this isn’t going to get better.” my husband and I erupted in laughter when they finally left.
The Modern Cafe is in the running, local, rave reviews, low key. That’s kind of where I’m at right now. I need to do a little research and see what I’ve missed, it’s been a while since I updated my list of places, and lately it’s been Mac’s or Mac’s. Or as Honey’s coworker calls it “The Industrial”. Who the hell calls it that? Not a regular, that’s who. I’m going to convince my Mom we need to hit the Liffy before we see the Boss, fish and chips and actual good beer before we hit the Xcel. What could be better?
I am so hungry right now. All that is on the immediate horizon is coffee. At least it’s from Caribou.
