Hidden Fees

Posted: June 25th, 2008 | Author: | Filed under: Twins | 3 Comments »

So my wife and I discussing the cost of bringing our little tag team into the world when she mentions that not all insurance plans cover circumcisions. Seriously, insurance already takes care of the delivery part and the doctor is already there to make the “revision”. Why is this treated as an add on? Its not like buying a car and deciding you want a 6 disk changer at the point of sale. I don’t even want to know how much you would have to pay have junior’s weenie snipped.

Our insurance covered it. I wasn’t sure, but we never ended up being billed.
However, when I did look at the cost of our charges to insurance it was a few hundred dollars for the circ. (including pain meds for the little guy).

I still have to check with our insurance. My midwife said if they do it at the hospital it would be around $1000 but if we did it at the pediatricians it would be $400-$600. I really should call BCBS!

Just checked- it is totally covered, as are a few other things I assumed were not…
