We were late.
Honey thought the Twins might be playing and our normal (15 minute) route to the hospital would be blocked, so we took 1st Ave instead. It took 45 minutes to get past the freakin’ Target Center!!!
I’m afraid to look and see if the Twins were even in town today- it looked pretty vacant when we drove past the dome on our way home.
Anyways, everyone in the class is expecting twins. We are the only ones who do not know the sex of our kiddos. It’s pretty split between first timers and couples with other kids.
It went pretty well- I did start to laugh when we were doing breathing exercises and the teacher went over the “hee-hee-hoo” vocalized breathing and she specifically said “it’s not like in the movies- we don’t want anyone to hyperventilate!” and proceeded to show us how to do it. Then she asked our partners to direct us in the exercise and Honey proceeded to lead me down the sure path to a paper bag or an oxygen mask…do I need a back-up here?
It is a pretty laid back class. We watched a video, looked at the tools of the trade had lots of discussion. Next week we see a twin birth and a C-Section and discuss pain medication. Our homework is to write up a birth plan. I hadn’t really planned on that, I want it to be flexible, really the only things I want are for the eye goo to stay off until after an hour of bonding and the ability to send them to the nursery if I want to sleep without getting any attitude.
I did feel pretty good that my midwife did not abandon me like other women in the class who were dropped a soon as they found out they were having twins. That seems crazy.
More tomorrow after the US.
