Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Posted: March 17th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Misc. | 2 Comments »

We’re having a rough day. Not feeling very well after the shots yesterday and feeling kind of icky because of this lingering cold.

Mom and Day love to pretend they are Irish- even just a little bit. Seriously, our Mom’s name is Erin. I guess it’s just an Americanized Irish name but whatever- it SOUNDS Irish.

Every year Mom and Dad make the typical Irish American meal of Corned Beef (slowly cooked in the crockpot) and Cabbage (mashed with potatoes in “Colcannon”). They eat it up like it’s the best thing ever invented.

I hope they plan on fussy babies after her little love affair with the cabbage today because when that gassy breast milk hits our tummies we’re gonna be pissed!

So, maybe we don’t like St. Patrick’s Day as much as they do. Maybe we will when we’re older and we can eat that Colcannon with our own little chompers. I’m sure we’ll really love it when we can toast with a Guinness.

Oh dear. I get the cabbage thing because, well, until I liked it, I didn’t even want to try it. Corned beef- same thing. And for the Guinness, I don’t think I’ve met a dark (dark dark dark) beer I haven’t loved so much I want to take it home and marry it. We actually just got some Guinness wall art for the kitchen. Guinness and roosters…Irish French Country?
