Cloth Take Two.

The last post made out cloth diapers to be the bad guy, and I don’t think that- at ALL. We just haven’t invested the money into finding a good nighttime diaper for the boys and that is always the biggest issue with cloth diapering- what keeps them dry and sleeping through the night. It’s different for everyone and I guess right now I’m overwhelmed with the choices. So, we’ll go back to what we KNOW works to keep them asleep.

My cloth diapering views HAVE changed a bit.

I still LOVE it. Not going to stop. I think so far during the day it works tremendously well for us and we’ll stick with it.

I HAVE however had mixed feeling about the gDiapers of late. If you remember my posts here and here I was so excited about this new product they were offering- a 6 pack of little g’s at a great low price. I got my 6-pack and I seriously couldn’t be more disappointed. The aplix (Velcro) was shot after about 1.5 washings. Talk about a let down. I love a big cloth bum roaming around the house but with these you have to button it up under a onesie to keep the tabs closed- not cute, or acceptable. To top it off I had been shouting from the rooftops how AWESOME this product was and even had a few of my readers buy this product on my recommendation. That right there makes me feel like crap people.

After about a month of fighting with the non-sticking crappy aplix I contacted gDiapers and they sent me new aplix to sew on (this is common practice in cloth diapering) but I haven’t done it yet. I’m seriously thinking about converting mine to snaps (it looks easy enough). I like the system as a whole, I think there is nothing cuter. Well, except for these and these. And I intend on getting my monies worth out of them.

I have read lots of negative feedback on the 6-packs since they came out, people are ALL OVER the bad aplix and hopefully gDiapers will take note and fix this. It really is a great product if they could just get that one major thing fixed I think I’d be able to shout from the rooftops again.

Since we’ve had issues with those we have started to branch off into other diaper covers- namely the Bummis Super Whisper Wraps and the Thirsties Duo Wrap. I like the SWW and Mr. Wonderful like the TDW. One has snaps and nice Velcro and the other has super strong (but soft) Velcro.

Part of the fun of cloth diapering is all of the options- I haven’t even tested the tip of the iceberg yet.

Other products I am still in love with:
Fluff Dust! California Fields is my favorite.
Planet Wise Wetbags!
Wildflower Diapers! They have the best customer service and super fast shipping!

Diapers I am drooling over:
Good Mama
Diaper Change Pockets She’s got some cute patterns here.
Wool Longies I’m trying to convince my Mom she needs to start knitting me some of these- so freaking cute.

Products I want to try so badly (but can probably do without):
Punkin Booty Bits We make our own wipe solution and it’s so easy, I just love all the scent options here.
Ellaroo nothing to do with cloth diapering, but *LOVE*
Ergo Want! Swoon.

I feel bad that you feel bad about the gDiapers!! You really shouldn't feel bad about suggesting them to other readers – there was NO way for you to know that they weren't going to last!! I loved the gDiapers until the tabs started to curl and be useless, just like you.

I have been finding blog contests to enter that are giving away cloth diapers and supplies. So far I have only won a pack of 5 Bummis stay dry liners, but it's something! I really try to enter the giveaways with less readers since there is less competition, plus it helps the small bloggers with following. Just a thought! I have been entering Feed Your Stash Friday's, I have a button for it on my blog – visit that site in case you haven't already and enter, you might win something!!

I know I shouldn't feel bad- but I do! I think I angered the CD gods with this post because we had our very first need-to-change-the-clothes-and-possibly-burn-the whole-mess blow-out with cloth tonight. It was pretty epic- up the back, down the legs. It's like it totally missed the diaper altogether. Awesome.
