So I slept terribly yesterday. Could have been the anticipation of the appointment. Could have been the noisy boys who were using their outside voices all day long. Anyway. After 3 hours of tossing and turning I was up and getting ready to go.
We got to our appointment early…and ended up getting in about 10 minutes after our original time slot. I’ve never had to wait at my clinic before so I was getting antsy.
We finally went in and she explained they may not be able to see the little bean with the regular ultrasound and if they couldn’t she’d do a trans vaginal ultrasound. Not what I wanted to hear so I hoped that whoever was taking up residence in there showed their face(s) quickly.
I kind of forgot how much they already look like a baby right now. Arms. Legs. Obvious human form. It’s pretty wild considering the baby is only like 1.5″ long. Totally crazy! Moving around. Good heartbeat (160 for those of you who try and guess gender based on that).
It all took less than 5 minutes. I’m used to long, frequent ultrasounds with the boys so I was kind of sad to be shuffled out so quickly. I mean this WAS for the sole sake of counting babies so I guess that doesn’t take too long…I mean she only had to count to one!
Our appointment went well too. I’m really glad to be able to spend a little more time with our OB. She delivered the boys and she’ll do the C-section for this one so I wanted her to be more than just my surgeon. I think it’s a good fit.
I found it funny that when she did the doppler so we could listen to the lovely swoosh swoosh swoosh of the heartbeat we found that this little one is was waaaay over to the left , just like Lincoln used to be. We’ll see if that remains the choice place to hang. One thing is for sure: this baby’s got a little more room to roam!
