Compare and Contrast.

As I near the end of this pregnancy I can’t help but notice distinct differences in being pregnant with twins vs. a single baby.

With the twins I had close to 20 ultrasounds when you add in the Biophysical Profiles and Doppler Studies with the perinatologist.  This time around?  Three- and not a single NST!

Last time as I neared the end I had multiple appointments each week and was usually at the office for an hour or more.  This time?  One appointment a week and I’m in and out within minutes.  I am officially DONE with appointments and I have 6 days to go- that is awesome.

Last time we made the belly cast 14 days before I delivered.  This time we made the belly cast 12 days before I’ll deliver.  Can you guess which on is bigger?  If you guessed last time you’d be wrong- how is that possible?  Truth be told they are fairly similar, but considering last time there were two it’s kind of scary how close in size they are.

Weight gained with twins: 17 pounds
Weight gained this time (1 week to go): 14 pounds

Weeks worked with twins: through 34 weeks
This time: through 37 weeks

Twins delivered at 36 weeks 1 day
This time (if all goes as planned) 39 weeks 1 day

Last time I was sick right until the end.
This time it tapered off a bit after 32 weeks although I do still feel nauseous for part of most days.

Last time the swelling was minimal until the end and much worse after delivery.
This time I’ve been sporting some cankles for most of the last Trimester- I’ll blame the heat.  We’ll see what they look like after I deliver.

We’re counting down until Wednesday- this little guy is staying put until then.  At least we hope he’s staying put and not going to make an early entrance like his brothers!
