You know how you’re walking through the grocery store and you see the sample table and you mosey on over and grab yourself a piece/ sip/ bite of whatever they happen to be offering and then you continue on your way?
Yeah, this is not what happened when I tried Joia All Natural Soda.
I stopped. I tried the first flavor that popped out at me (Pineapple, Coconut & Nutmeg). I tried a second flavor (Lime, Hibiscus & Clove). I asked if they ever worked with bloggers. Because I love me some local brands. Because I really really liked their product and after just two sips I was feeling bold and like I wanted to work with them. The rep said that being the new company that they were, they had just starting to work with The Media. (The Media!) Of course I went home and looked them up and sent them an email.
A few days later I got a response inviting me to a tasting event at The Strip Club in St. Paul.
Well knock me over with a feather. This was the fanciest damn shindig this Mom Blogger has ever been invited to.
So I went. By myself.
Out of my comfort zone is an understatement. I blog about raising kids and autism and breastfeeding. In a former life I wrote about food and restaurants and indulgences like perusing The Electric Fetus for hours and sleeping in on weekends. Now, not so much.
To be in a room surrounded by the top Food Bloggers in the Twin Cities was a bit intimidating. These were not my people.
And seriously, why should Foodies have all the fun?! This fits right in with everything that’s hip with Moms right now: Local! All Natural! No High Fructose Corn Syrup! No Caffeine! Interesting Flavors! Something both adults and kids can enjoy! Also- it can be dressed up after the kids go to bed. (Or for the *really* fun days- as soon as your partner walks in the door and you tag out for some Me Time. Don’t pretend you’ve never had one of those days.)
I’m pretty smitten with this product. The combinations of fruit and herbs are kicked into high gear with the addition of spices. Cloves in soda? Amazing. Seriously, if you are in the Twin Cities and have access to a Lund’s, Byerly’s, Kowalski’s or one of the various local co-ops- run out and get yourself a 4-pack or two.
Forget Izze and GuS- Joia is where it’s at.
Disclaimer- I was invited to a tasting event and served one of the most delicious cocktails I have ever tasted, mixed up by the one and only Tim Niver. I also ate some lovely food and chatted with some brilliant people. I was not asked to write a review, but I am choosing to do so because this is a GREAT company and a FANTASTIC product. As always, all opinions are mine.
