Just another Minnesota Mom blog.

This has been a year of firsts.

My first Review and Giveaway

My first Media Event.

My first Blog Conference.

My first trip to Starbucks with my laptop to try and “get some work done”.

My first paycheck because of this little blog.

All because last year, I decided I wanted to see what I could do.  Where I could go.  I’d been blogging for years and hadn’t really attempted to figure out what the next steps were.  But with a new baby on my lap I decided I needed to see if I could do it.  See what the work was.  See if it was worth it*.

I was going to write anyways.

I was failing miserably at keeping my current blog updated for family.  I didn’t always want to write about the boys, but parenting in general.  I was bad about uploaded pics (I’m still bad at that) and I wanted to write about things that I’m pretty sure most of the people reading my blog at the time had no interest in.

So I decided I was going to buy a new domain, to try and separate the two.  My writing and the boys.  This was my first post.  I had high hopes to post about food and Minneapolis and the day to day life of a mom of 3.  That was derailed in December.  Who can talk about food when the only thing on your mind is Autism?

Eventually I just gave up at keeping them separate and rolled Players to be Named Later into The Slacker Mom.  Posting at Players to be Named Later had come to a halt, it was obvious I was a one blog kinda girl.

The months wore on.

I added a PR page.  I had a professional custom design my look.  I was accepted to BlogHer.

Those were big milestones for me.  Actually, when I started this project, getting BlogHer ads was my finish line.

I’m there.

But I’m not finished.

Now I need to figure out just where I want to go from here.  What does this next year bring?  It’s different for every blogger.  Where are YOU going this year?  What are your goals?  What did you achieve this year that you didn’t think you could?

*Thank you to Jes for telling me that it was going to be hard and it was going to be lots of work and it was going to be rewarding if I stuck it out.
