Lincoln wanted to be the first one up this morning. He woke up with a long whine around 2:15. Thankfully, Yogi Dad is a rockin’ awesome dad and got up with our eldest child and took him downstairs to watch the Snooze-A-Thon on Sprout until he fell back asleep. (Whoever came up with this concept is a genius. After saying goodnight to every character on Sprout, all the boys were ready for bed with no issues last night. I want this to come on every night!)
Around 6:00 the rest of us finally trudged out of bed, except for Uncle Jimmy of course. We let him sleep in until almost 7! (We are so nice.) Shortly after that, the boys got to business opening their gifts.
The early winner- Sophie the Giraffe. I think Judah has stolen a chew on every Sophie he’s ever come across. Now he has his own. Sophie may have been unseated by a sleek black flip-phone, only time will tell. If you know Judah, you know his favorite thing to do is walk around the house holding a remote up to his ear, nodding his head and saying “Oh!” (Hello) in a high pitched squeak. Of course he thinks his new phone is also a remote, so there is that…
For Lincoln and Wyatt the obvious favorite is the Super Why! Twas the Night before Christmas DVD. It’s not even noon and we are on round 6. (They love Super Why!) Other front-runners include the Fisher-Price Zoo which is a familiar favorite from speech therapy and an alphabet floor puzzle. I think you could probably write the alphabet on a piece of paper and my boys would get excited.
As always, we have been blessed beyond measure by family this Christmas. This is the first Christmas we’ve been able to travel to see my in-laws and we are enjoying almost every minute of our vacation thus far. Of course, I miss being home, but this is the first year we’ve been away, I think I can put on my big girl panties and deal with it.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas. I hope you are making many happy memories with your family and friends this holiday season. Memories that carry you through the cold winter months and keep you going until next Christmas.
Let’s make the last 6 days of 2011 fantastic!
