Cloth diaper giveaway event!

Welcome to day two of 30 Days of Dipes! Today is sponsored by:

I will be reviewing and giving away a Smartipants One Size Pocket diaper. Make sure you also check out The Gnome’s Mom and her review of the Smartipants diaper today as well!

The Dirty Details:

The biggest difference between Smartipants and other OS Pocket diapers are the openings at both ends which make it very easy to stuff.  The double openings also make washing easy as you can just toss it into the washing machine with the insert still inside and it will come apart during the wash cycle.  With other brands, if you forget to pull of the insert before washing you end up with an insert balled up at one end of the diaper and it may not be completely clean.

Day Use: 5 Bums Up

Overnight Use: 3 Bums Up

Ease of Use: 5 Bums Up

Quality: 5 Bums Up

Overall: 4.5 Bums Up

Daytime Use: I gave the Smartipants OS Pocket diaper 5 Bums Up for daytime use.  The Smartipants OS diaper comes with one microfiber insert but it’s also got a large enough pocket to handle multiple inserts or even multiple pre-folds.  I find that usually the single insert is enough for daytime.  If I am driving somewhere or putting them down for a nap and I think they might be out for a long time I will double up on inserts or resort to a pre-fold.

Overnight Use: I gave this diaper 3 Bums Up for Overnight Use.  If used as-is, it’s not a great nighttime diaper but that shouldn’t be a deterrent.  As I said above, the Smartipants diaper can hold extra inserts and even 2 pre-folds.  In a pinch we will double stuff with pre-folds and it will get us through the night.  As the boys have gotten bigger (all three of them hover around 30lbs) it’s a little more difficult to get the diaper to fit them when it’s stuffed for nighttime.  When they were smaller, this was a great choice for us but now it’s my back-up.

Ease of Use: Smartipants earns 5 Bums Up for Ease of Use.  The Smartipants diaper was the very first pocket and very first snap diaper I ever purchased.  I was a dyed in the wool hook and loop lover.  My boys were squirmy and snaps left me throwing my hands up in defeat.  Eventually the boys stopped squirming (a bit) and started taking off their diapers.  Snaps were now a necessity.  It took awhile but we’ve mastered the snaps!  The snap down rise is easily adjustable as well.  for awhile we had an infant and two toddler wearing this diaper and it was never a problem to switch from a short rise to a higher rise, even in the middle of the night.

Quality: I consider this a very high quality diaper, it gets 5 Bums Up.  We’ve been using the first two Smartipants diapers for a little over 2 years now and they still look as good as new.  The snaps are all in great shape, they wash up well- no stains, the outer fabric looks as good as new.

Smartipants 30 Days of Dipes review

Overall: I gave Smartipants 4.5 Bums Up.  It’s one of the few diapers that we’ve been using for awhile so I have plenty of experience with it.  Honestly, it’s one of my favorite diapers in my stash.  It’s trim, it fits under all of the boys pants- almost like a disposable would.  It’s easy to wash, easy to stuff.  The inserts have nice green stitching around the edges making diaper laundry easy to sort and stuff.  It’s not my favorite diaper for nighttime at the age and size the boys are but it does get the job done if it’s stuffed adequately.

Smartipants is going to give one of my lucky readers a Smartipants OS diaper in their choice of color!

I am intrigued by the 2-opening pocket concept. That's one of the reasons I switched to prefolds-I got sick of having to dissect diapers.

I love dipes that agitate out, it’s such a relief, especially with extreme explosions lol! Love the green too!

With Emmaline eating solids, I like the simplicity of a trifolded prefold best. Before starting solids, when things were… messier… I liked the pockets because they seemed to hold everything in well. That said, destuffing pockets stink so yay for smartipants!! ; )

My 1-month-old is in prefolds right now, but I’ve been eyeing Smartipants since I first found out I was pregnant! I love the “not-needing-to-remove-the-insert-before-washing” concept. I plan to switch to pocket/sleeve diapers by the time my little one starts eating solid food.

hmmmm…. double opening for the inserts interesting! I don't mind removing inserts, but with two openings adding more stuffing for overnight might be much easier.

My son's also around 30 lbs, and I find it holds up great for night time, when I add a small prefold.

My favorite style of cloth diaper, right now, are one-size pockets with snaps. I like the idea of customizing the absorbency, and the snaps don't form those long chains in the washer.

New to cloth diapering & my LO hasn't arrived yet so I don't have a favorite. But, I like the idea of the AIO one-size diapers for traveling, on the go, and daycare. I want to give prefolds and covers a try for our time at home.
