Cloth diaper giveaway event!

Welcome to day number 14 of 30 Days of Dipes! Today is sponsored by:

30 Days of Dipes sponsored by DiaperCo

The giveaway for DiaperCo is extra exciting! We’re doing a joint giveaway between all three of our blogs, which means one lucky winner will receive a prize pack worth over $140!:

  • Changing Diapers, The Hip Mom’s Guide To Modern Cloth Diapering (book)
  • TWO custom BottomBumpers diapers
  • $75 gift certificate to DiaperCo.com

What’s a joint giveaway? It means you’ll see the same Rafflecopter form on my site, The Gnome’s Mom, and Life With Levi. Since it’s the same exact form, you can enter from any of our sites, but there is only one prize and only one winner will be chosen from all entries received.

When I first made my list of companies I wanted to include in this event I started with local companies (I live in Minnesota).  I like to shop local when I can, I like to promote locally owned companies when possible.  In doing my research I came across DiaperCo.com,  a locally owned company owned and run by Ashlee and Alex, a couple pretty close in age to me with kids around the same ages as mine.  It’s always fun to meet people in the same phase of life, especially when your interests seem to match up a bit.

It turns out Ashlee and Alex are a pretty awesome duo.  I had the chance to meet up with them to brainstorm how we could work together on this project and I was blown way by just how great they are.  From their kinda crunchy outlook on parenting to the entrepreneurial spirit that is obvious in their taking over DiaperCo.com (and it’s sister sites HeinyKing.com and OnlyMommysTouch.com), it has been great to get to know the people that make this company work.

Ashlee and Alex are excited about cloth diapering and they love sharing their knowledge.  They are just getting ready to relaunch DiaperCo.com so it is more user friendly and easier to navigate.  They have many great options like a layaway plan, gift registry and of course top notch customer service.  (Ashlee was very quick to answer my questions about wool care and helped me pick out just what I need to get started after I ordered my first wool soaker the other day.)  They also offer local pick-up witch I find to be a fantastic way to say money and time.

Right now DiaperCo.com is running a special- a FREE Changing Diapers book with every purchase over $15- you can’t beat that!  Be sure to check out their guest posts on Life with Levi: Making the Switch to Cloth Wipes, The Gnome’s Mom: Cloth Diaper, a Dad’s Perspective and right here on The Slacker Mom: A Day in the Life of DiaperCo!

Now, on to the diaper review….

The Dirty Details:

Because Ashlee’s favorite diaper happens to be the BottomBumpers diaper, she naturally asked us to review this diaper for the event.  I have to say, although very cute, I was a little skeptical when I first saw this diaper- it was teeny!  I had no idea how it would fit any of my boys at first glance…

Day Use: 5.0Bums Up

Overnight Use: 3.0 Bums Up

Ease of Use: 5.0 Bums Up

Quality: 5.0 Bums Up

Overall: 4.5 Bums Up

Daytime Use: This diaper was perfect for daytime use.  The fit is trim.  The absorbency is spot on for daytime and naps.  The side snaps are good for keeping at least one of my boys (Judah) from taking it off (Wyatt has such skinny hips he just shimmy’s out of everything- I’ve kind of given up on him keeping his pants on at this point) which is always a plus!

Overnight Use: We need more absorbency for overnight and I’m not sure the trimness of this diaper would allow for as much stuffing as we need quite honestly.  A smaller/ younger infant probably wouldn’t have many issues.

Ease of Use: This is so easy.  I am fairly new to the side snap and I’m kind of impressed.  This diaper has 5 sets of snaps around the back which really gives you a lot of room to grow.  The BottomBumpers diaper also has the rise adjustment on the inside which not only makes for a very clean looking diaper (no gnarly snaps on the front) but the rise snaps don’t come undone as easily as on some other diapers.

Quality: This is a great quality diaper.  From the attention to detail with the snaps, the immaculate fit, the natural fibers (Organic cotton and cotton velour), everything screams quality.  did I mention these are entirely customizable?  That’s right- you can choose your diaper color, snap color and even embroidery if you choose.  An all around great diaper.

Overall: I was pleasantly surprised with the BottomBumpers diaper.  It just goes to show- you can’t judge a book by it’s cover (or a diaper by what it looks like before you put it on).  This is a fantastic diaper that should have a place in every stash.

This diaper is so cute… I have never tried a Bottombumpers before but I have had my eye on them for a while… they look like a great diaper. I love snap in ones. The insert completely removes like a pocket to wash nice and clean and it is so easy to put back together! 🙂 No stuffing required!

Now I'm curious about Bottom Bumpers. 🙂 I may just have to try one.

My favorite item carried by DiaperCo is The Planet Wise Pail liner. I know, you'd think I'd pick a diaper for this comment, but the 2 pail liners I've been using for 2.5 years have held up SO well. They're each washed about twice a week and they still haven't frayed or torn.

    I never have tried a Bottombumber either…

My fave item carried by DiaperCo would be the Baby Legs, not only do they make easy diaper changes, they are so wonderful for potty training to! My son really struggles with his pants sometimes!
