Today, Lori, Jen, and I are all reviewing different products from the Canadian company: Monkey Doodlez! I will be reviewing and giving away Monkey Doodlez Cloth Wipes and Wipe Cubes, over at the Gnome’s Mom, Lori will be reviewing the Tuck & Go diapering system and over at Life With Levi you can see what she thought of the Monkey Doodlez Swim Diaper!
The Dirty Details:
I’ll be honest- I have tried cloth wipes in the past and I was not a huge fan. I forced my husband and nanny to use them for like 3 months before finally admitted that they totally sucked and we were going back to disposable wipes. I think they both jumped for joy at the thought!
But, everyone else seems to really love cloth wipes, so I figured it was high time to give them another shot.
Last time I went cheap- I cut up some old flannel blankets and kept them in a wipes container with homemade wipe solution. This time I would be using the Monkey Doodles wipes warmer sized Terry Wipes and their Wipe Cubes. I didn’t want to do the same thing we did last time, I wanted this to work!
Instead of keeping the wipes wet, I kept them folded and dry in the wipes container. I mixed the wipe solution and kept that bottle with the wipes so it was convenient for diaper changes. Because everything was dry, I also tossed in our cloth friendly diaper balms so there was no hunting for anything!
I thought this was the perfect plan.
Except, I still wasn’t loving it. I found myself going out of my way to find the disposable wipes. I asked (whined) about what I was doing wrong on my local cloth diapering moms Facebook page (they were actually less pro-cloth wipes than I thought). I may have almost thrown in the towel before the first week was through.
Then we ran out of disposable wipes.
And I didn’t buy any more.
And we were forced to use cloth wipes. And slowly but surely, I was kind of liking them a little more.
So it’s been a few weeks now- and we have used nothing but cloth wipes. It’s not our record for cloth wipes usage by any means, but neither of us are frantically looking for the disposable wipes when it’s time to change a dirty diaper which was always the case last time.
Instead we grab some wipes, squeeze a little of the wipe solution onto them, grab our diaper and get down to business. Sometimes it’s easier to run them under the faucet. I prefer to use wipes solution myself, but it’s whatever is convenient at the time. My boys don’t have particularly sensitive skin so fragrances don’t usually pose a problem and the Monkey Doodlez Wipe Cubes make a nice and gentle solution.
I don’t know if I am a convert, only time will tell. But I think having wipes made for the purpose of being wipes and having a ready made wipes solution has helped a bit. I love that the wipes have a bit of texture to them to help scrub off the really pasty poops. I like that they fit nicely in our container and are the perfect size to fit into my hand.
I don’t want to jinx it, but I think this might actually stick!
