It’s been a few years since I last attended a breastfeeding class.

When I was pregnant with the twins, Yogi Dad and I went to the standard class that was offered by the hospital we were delivering at.  It wasn’t a bad class per se, it was chock full of information and I left feeling like I had armed myself with what I needed.  It had all the nuts and bolts of breastfeeding covered as well as when (and who) to call if we ran into issues once the boys were finally here.

But, it was lacking something that I couldn’t quite put my finger on until I attended the Better Breastfeeding Class at BabyLove, located in Eagan, Minnesota.

BabyLove Minnesota

The class at BabyLove was small and intimate.  The night I was there it was 3 couples and myself.  Not a sprawling auditorium with upwards of 40 parenting pairs.

From the very beginning of the class I felt like I was being included in the discussion instead of being lectured to.  I felt like I could easily ask questions as they came to me and I was encouraged to do so.

After breastfeeding 3 kids as well as reading (and writing) about breastfeeding for the past few years, I felt like there was information that was new to me.  I left feeling informed and excited- they even encouraged us to call them if we ran into issues after the baby came.  THAT little detail (having a familiar face to reach out to) is important to me- even though I have no breastfeeding on the immediate horizon!

If you are a soon-to-be parent living in the Twin Cities area looking for birth and parenting classes where you get a little more one on one attention, I would highly recommend taking a look at BabyLove.  BabyLove has many different classes, from Lamaze Childbirth classes (or a refresher level course) to a Cloth Diapering/ Baby-Wearing combo class and even an Infant and Child Carseat Safety class!

BabyLove is the labor of love (sorry- I couldn’t resist) of two birth doula friends, Veronica Jacobsen and Brittany Kubricky:

We are two women, completely passionate about birth, who created a space for women and their families to gather, to learn about pregnancy, birth, and beyond, and to share in the journey into parenthood together. BabyLove is an attempt to reinvent childbirth education, creating a happy balance between the consistency and affordability of hospital classes and the flexibility and excellence of independent classes.

You can contact Veronica or Brittany at BabyLove via phone (651-200-3343) or email (info@babylovemn.com) and learn more about BabyLove through their website: www.babylovemn.com

Disclosure: I attended a class at BabyLove for the sake of writing this review.  All opinions are my own.

You know I have never attended a birthing class? I suppose there's still time to do so for the next child. Found you through EA 🙂
