Diaper Cakewalk {A Review}

Do you want to know what all moms secretly want to receive at their baby shower?

Diapers. And lots of them.

It doesn’t matter if it’s cloth or disposables, it is something that is at the top of the list.  So go ahead, pick your favorite item off the registry- but add a pack or two of Size 1’s to your gift bag for good measure. Diapers are a definite need, especially in those newborn days of almost constant diaper changing!

Do you know what is even better than just throwing a few packs of diapers in a gift bag?

A diaper cake from Diaper Cakewalk.

It’s a centerpiece! It’s diapers! It’s a whole bunch of other stuff newborns need!

I had never heard of a diaper cake until after I had the twins and although I’ve never received one myself, I think it’s just such a genius product. You can dress them up any way you like- to match a room theme (this would have been perfect for my cousin!), a shower theme, a color scheme.

You can even go eco-friendly by switching up the brand of diapers and product add-ons.

And for the truly creative- you can even get a plain diaper cake ready for your finishing touches!

Put this lovely tower of goodies in the middle of the gift table and everyone will comment.

Now like I said, I’m a complete novice when it comes to diaper cakes (not diapers, I have changed my fair share) but I have to say, I was really impressed by the Diaper Cakewalk diaper cake that I was sent.

First off, it was lighter than I expected it to be. 75 diapers, 4-tiers high studded with name brand toiletry items and sweet baby toys. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I imagined it would be heavy.

Another thing I noticed was how sturdy it was. I didn’t take it out of the tulle it was wrapped in (I brought it to my cousin’s baby shower over the weekend) but I’m pretty sure, even if I had it wasn’t going to fall apart. There was nothing visible holding it together and it was packed tight- almost like magic.

And lastly- it was just so adorable. I received the Baby Monkey Diaper Cake from the neutral collection. It was bright and funky with a cool orange ribbon wrapped around each layer and soft monkey toys peeking around the tiers.

With my twins we were able to go 4 months before we had to buy diapers (I’m sure you can imagine how big our pile was). It was just one less thing to worry about running out of in those crazy hazy early weeks and months. Of course after that we switched to cloth but I think even for moms who plan to cloth diaper (we all know I cloth diaper) it’s sometimes nice to have disposables on hand in those early days. Skinny newborn legs can be a cloth diapers worst enemy!

Have you ever received a diaper cake for a gift? Have you ever given one or made one yourself?

Disclosure: I received a diaper cake for the sake of this review.  All opinions are my own.  You can follow Diaper Cakewalk on Facebook and Twitter!

    They make really cute diaper cakes. I like how they give you the option of having Johnson & Johnson products and Burt Bees
