Flats and Handwashing Challenge: Day 6

If you are a cloth diapering mom or dad and you haven’t heard about the Second Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge, you probably will this week! Over 450 bloggers have signed up to use nothing but flats and covers for the next 7 days, handwashing and line drying instead of resorting to a washing machine and dryer. The Flats and Handwashing Challenge is hosted by the always awesome Kim over at Dirty Diaper Laundry. Check out the details page and sign up!

Yesterday it looked like this:

Flats and Handwashing Challenge: Day 6

And even though there was no breeze, my diapers were dry and ready to go within an hour. It was perfect since I had all 3 boys in flats for overnight so I had a big load that needed to dry quickly.

Today it looks like this:

And when I finally gave in and started washing, I had 8 out of 12 flats plus 5 of my designated covers to wash and dry. I waited as long as I could, then I thought maybe, just maybe the rain would stop and I could take advantage of the breeze.

It wasn’t meant to be.

So I rigged up this:

That’s an IKEA hanging dryer that I have yet to have rigged up to my ceiling in the laundry room. I’m putting that on the list of projects for Yogi Dad and his dad to work on this week.

Let’s all cross our fingers that these are dry tomorrow because I have exactly 1 flat that is clean and dry at the moment!

One Day left!!!
