Well, we made it!
7 days of flat and covers.
7 days of handwashing.
7 days of hanging diapers to dry.
Thankfully I only had 1 day where rain was an issue and we easily rigged up an indoor drying rack and we woke up to perfectly dry diapers the next morning.
I think my biggest takeaway from the Flats and Handwashing Challenge is this: I know I can do this if I had to.
Had being the keyword.
I don’t *have* to do this and although I found the handwashing to be fairly easy, I found myself kind of obsessing about the weather. When it rained I just wanted to throw them in the dryer and be done with it, not looking for a good solution for drying them in my already hot and humid house.
I do have a new found love of flats though. All 3 boys have gone to bed in flats the past 3 nights. In the past 6 months I’ve added more microfiber to my stash than I could have ever imagined, and I gotta say- as excited as I was in the beginning, I am pretty over it. Microfiber has nothing on natural fibers. For the past two weeks I’ve stuffed all of my pockets with prefolds and although they are a little bit bulkier- I couldn’t be happier.
Thank you to Kim over at Dirty Diaper Laundry for putting together such a great hop! If I happen to have a kid in diaper next year (it could happen!) we’ll happily go for the Hat Trick!
*No diaper pics from yesterday- too much cleaning in preparation for Grandma and Grandpa’s arrival from Virginia!
