Today I have another guest post from the always fabulous Samantha Peters. The tips she’s throwing down are tips I should commit to memory and put to use on a daily basis. I’m not a girlie girl (as we have discussed before) and for the most part I tend to forget that a little bit of effort can go a long way!
Without further ado….
The process of growing older is a frightening prospect for many Americans. Although inevitable, it’s difficult to accept the loss of your youthful good looks as you mature, but you don’t have to descend into old age like a hobbling stereotype. It is possible to age gracefully if you follow a few basic guidelines to keep yourself looking and feeling young. You may even find that the older you get, the more heads you turn walking down the street!
Find Flattering Clothes
One of the major difficulties as you age will be finding clothing that fits you well and is still stylish. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should just give up and resign yourself to a life of beige slacks. Keep your clothing bright, fun and tasteful to avoid falling into the trap of a boring wardrobe. Solid-colored sweaters and blouses are both warm and excellent staples for your daily wear.
Keep Your Hair Youthful
Similarly, it’s all too easy to let your hair go as the grays begin to come in. Don’t be that person with blue-black hair and a bad comb-over, but you don’t have to chop everything off and bring out the curlers, either. Play around with shorter cuts like a bob, as well as layered longer styles that will compliment your face.

Focus on Your Face
Your face is the first thing people look at, and it is also the body part most visibly impacted by aging. Wrinkles can be halted with products sold at retailers such as www.wrinklecreams.com, but a few lines will probably still sneak through. This is not a bad thing! Remember, you have stories to tell, and that life is written on your face for others to admire. Keep your skin healthy and use subtle makeup to really stand out from the crowd.
Stay Healthy
Most importantly, take care of your body. You can dress yourself up as nicely as you please, but ultimately your health will have the biggest effect on both your appearance and your mental state. Avoid unhealthy foods and try to focus on lean meats and vegetables to help keep your weight down and your heart strong. Stay active by going on walks or bicycle rides, which are both low impact to avoid stressing your joints.
There’s no reason to allow yourself to deteriorate as you age. Stay strong and look after your body, and you’re much more likely to hold onto your youth long after your friends have given up.
