Summer Break: Part 1, Day 2

Our out of town visitors have all traveled back to their respective coasts and we had our very first official day of summer her at Casa de Slacker.

It was a a good day, albeit very very long.

I let everyone (me) sleep in as late as I possibly could. Which was 7:15. Then I emptied the pool from the day before, refilled it, did the dishes and started laundry and got breakfast going before I got them out of bed at 8. They were all awake, well, mostly. Wyatt was fighting it hard core- he loves to sleep.

After breakfast we played downstairs until I couldn’t wait any longer and needed coffee. Last week Judah took it upon himself to break the coffee carafe by banging it on the counter. I haven’t gotten around to ordering a new on just yet, mostly because I have barely had time to be online the past week or so, let alone doing any online shopping. So I’ve been surviving on coffee from where ever I can get it.

Of course you don’t need to twist my arm to make me go on a field trip to Starbucks.

Into the car went. The boys chowed down on granola bars, I got my trenta iced coffee and we circled the lakes, arriving home just in time for lunch.

After lunch, we headed out back to the pool, which was now nice and warm. Judah relinquished his rights to swim right then because he was being a crab ass. He went to bed and slept soundly until I opened his door almost 3 hours later.

I sat in a chair and read The Dirty Life while the boys played and ate freeze pops in every color of the rainbow.

It was so relaxing, and just what I needed.

Yogi Dad, so not used to me not being near a computer or phone came home early to make sure everything was OK. It wasn’t until I checked my messages and saw his frantic, all caps texts and voice mails that I realized I hadn’t checked email or my phone since I put it in my purse on our way out the door hours earlier. I gotta say, I enjoy being unplugged.

We ate dinner on the patio and then after much needed baths, took the boys on a walk to our favorite local coffee shop. Snickerdoodles for the boys, best Root Beer Float ever for me.

It was the perfect ending to a pretty perfect day.
