Fun in a Box: BabbaCo

I was recently approached by BabbaCo to do a review of their BabbaBox subscription service for kids ages 3-6.  I was kind of intrigued because it promised a box of items, delivered to me each month that would provide all of the tools to complete different projects and learning experiences with the boys.

Knowing that school was soon coming to a close, and knowing that I would probably be pulling my hair out looking for things to do after about 24 hours, I knew this was something I wanted to do.

My box arrived and the theme of the month was “Rainbows”.

Perfect for pre-schoolers!

The box included: The book A Rainbow of My Own by Don Freeman; a prism and instructions on how to use it; a big tube of bubbles; an umbrella; items to make a rainbow sun hat; items to make bubble wands out of pipe cleaners; and a pair of safety scissors.

This morning after Judah went down for his nap we sat on the couch and read the book.  The boys are big fans of Corduroy and this book is by the same author.  Lincoln recognized his name immediately and said “A Rainbow of My Own and Corduroy!”

Smart kid.

After we read the book, Lincoln and I played with the Prism while Wyatt re-read the book.  I tried to get a picture of Lincoln touching the rainbows on the wall but he wouldn’t stand still.  Naturally!

After we played with the prism for awhile we sat down to draw some rainbows.  That isn’t part of the box but they were losing interest quickly so I saved a few of the projects for another day.

I have to say- I loved this.

I’m going to throw it out there as a Birthday gift idea because people always ask and I never have ideas but this was really fun.  The ability to sit down and do something crafty and  fun without having to hunt down all of the tools and supplies was awesome.  And for someone like me who isn’t the craftiest (although my Pinterest boards tell another tale) I was happy to have something easy but interesting for the boys.

Have you checked out  BabbaCo?  Have you used a subscription service like this before?  They seem to be popping up everywhere for everything and I am really digging this concept!

Disclosure: I was provided product for the purposes of review.  All opinions are my own.

I am really impressed together with your writing abilities as neatly as with the structure for your weblog.
