I *MISS* Retail!

Not that I want to throw my hat back into the ring or anything- that ship has sailed. But I just love a brand new shiny store.

There is just something about seeing a new concept being rolled out, aisle by aisle that is so satisfying.  When you can finally unveil that new store experience to your customers, they don’t necessarily see all the little things that went into the new design, but hopefully they will be wowed by the big picture.

It’s been awhile since I was last in a Best Buy and let me tell you, I was WOWED by their new concept that I got to check out at their Richfield store (77th and Lyndale).

I had read a little bit about it in a press release, but until I walked through the doors and my little retail transition loving heart started to go pitter patter at the low-profile aisles and row upon row of easy to access displays, I didn’t really think I was in for much of a surprise.

I’m sure not everyone will go ga-ga like me (I mean really- how many people get excited about setting up new stores?), but it really is a clean , modern shopping environment.  And because of this, I found things there that I never in a million years dreamed Best Buy carried (electric razors anyone?).

The only thing we gasped at was the er, lack of CD’s.  Maybe I’m old school, but don’t people buy CD’s anymore?  Man, me and the hubs felt OLD in that moment!  It was like we were asking for VHS tapes or something!

Here are a few photos from our visit:

Maps are always appreciated!

Not that you need a map with the headers around the perimeter helping you to get your bearings!

Do you love this as much as I do? You can see anywhere in the store no matter what aisle you are in! It’s like my dream come true (I have a husband who tends to wander away during shopping trips).

No music at Best Buy

The moment we felt old. This is the music aisle. All of it!

So, what do you think?  Are you a Best Buy fan?  Are you looking forward to this concept rolling out at a store near you?  What’s not to love about support for all of your needs at the center of the store (Solution Central), more eye-level displays, products to meet every price-point, a streamlined check-out system and digital displays advertising sales and promotions?

If you are in the Twin Cities area, I urge you to check out this new concept at the Richfield Best Buy store- I’m sure they are looking forward to welcoming us all into their new store!  (And I’m sure somewhere a remodel team is doing a happy dance that Grand Opening weeks is finally here.)

Want to win a Best Buy giftcard?  I’m giving away 2 actually I am giving away 5 $25 Best Buy Giftcards to 5 lucky readers! Sweet.

Disclosure: I was compensated to host this giveaway for my readers by Best Buy.  All opinions are mine.  Not that many people get this excited over low-profile aisles!  What is the phrase?  You can take the woman out of retail but you can’t take retail out of the woman?  Something like that…

I think my favorite thing to shop for is anything food related…like spices! Kinda lame, I know. I also love to browse gadgets, but never seems to be in the budget.

I like shopping for cloth diapers. But I think we've finally got enough of those! Now, I like shopping for good deals on stuff that I really need. I'm trying to focus on only gettnig something if its perfect, and if its really needed.
