Do you ever…

Do you ever have those moments (days, weeks) where everywhere you turn you find something that is much more pressing than blogging? More urgent, more time consuming, more overwhelming and thus more exhausting, so when you finally get a chance to sit down and catch your breath, all you want to do is tune out?

This is where I am right now.

The transition to a summer routine has not been kind. Autism is big in our house and it is currently overwhelming on all fronts.

When I log in to write I just stare at my blank screen and then I flip over to Facebook for a break and get entranced by my news feed. Forget about my own page! It’s a ghost town over there and I don’t even care!

I have reviews to write- they are coming. My goal is to have everything written and published by August first. After that, I am done with reviews and giveaways. In the past year I have been doing reviews and giveaways I have not felt myself. This isn’t *me*. When I started blogging 5 years ago, I did not set out to become a mouthpiece for various brands. The lure of advertising- money and things to be paid for my words and traffic and backlinks

This isn’t me. This isn’t blogging. No matter how I try to justify it to myself- this isn’t it.

This is my life. This is my family. This is the story of my sons.

Seems like you are doing a great job of getting back to what is important to you. Getting rid of extra "stuff" around the house. Getting to the end of extra "stuff" on your blogs. It's got to feel good. Life can be overwhelming sometimes. For sure. But getting back to the basics, at least for me, makes me feel like I have some semblance of control.

I think you're doing the right thing here, and I'm excited about reading future posts. I don't know if I'd click on Coleman Ignacio's link though. I smell a virus.

I'll still read even without the giveaways. I actually prefer blogs that are actually written by people and let me get a glimpse of their lives. I like your honesty too.
